Treating Redness and Broken Capillaries with the Excel V+ Laser
A Clear Solution for Redness and Vascular Skin Concerns
Facial redness, rosacea, and visible veins are some of the most common—and most frustrating—skin concerns for patients in Colorado. Cold weather, altitude, and sun exposure can all make redness more pronounced.
At
Clearview Dermatology, our dermatologists use the
Excel V+ Laser, a powerful system designed to safely and effectively reduce unwanted redness and vascular lesions. Available at our
Arvada, Evergreen, and Littleton offices, Excel V+ helps restore a calm, even skin tone without downtime or invasive procedures.
How the Excel V+ Laser Works
The Excel V+ Laser targets blood vessels and pigment beneath the skin using two precise wavelengths of light. These wavelengths selectively absorb into hemoglobin (for redness) and melanin (for pigmentation), treating discoloration without harming surrounding tissue.
It’s an advanced system that allows your provider to tailor the energy output for your specific concern—whether that’s broken capillaries around the nose, flushed cheeks from rosacea, or lingering redness from acne scars.
Conditions commonly treated include:
- Rosacea and chronic redness
- Broken capillaries and spider veins
- Facial flushing or blotchiness
- Sun-induced pigmentation
- Red acne scars or post-inflammatory marks
Why Patients Love Excel V+
Excel V+ stands out for its comfort, precision, and versatility. Unlike older vascular lasers or light-based devices, it treats a broader range of red, purple, and brown tones—making it suitable for various skin types and concerns.
Key benefits include:
- Minimal discomfort and no downtime
- Immediate visible results for many patients
- Safe treatment of delicate facial areas
- Proven improvement in skin tone and clarity
Excel V+ vs. IPL: What’s the Difference?
Although IPL (intense pulsed light) and vascular lasers may seem similar, they’re not the same. Clearview Dermatology does not offer IPL—and for good reason.
While IPL uses broad-spectrum light, Excel V+ delivers concentrated laser energy that targets redness with more precision and consistency. The result is more even, predictable improvement in fewer sessions.
Pairing Excel V+ with Other Treatments
Excel V+ can be combined with resurfacing lasers like Fraxel or Ultra Clear to enhance both tone and texture. For example:
- Pairing Excel V+ with Fraxel can help fade redness and smooth rough texture.
- Combining Excel V+ with Ultra Clear (available only at our Arvada office) can rejuvenate dull skin while reducing discoloration.

What to Expect During Treatment
Most Excel V+ sessions last 15–30 minutes, depending on the treatment area. You might feel a mild warming or snapping sensation as the laser pulses. When larger areas are treated, topical anesthesia may be offered to reduce discomfort. There is typically mild to moderate swelling in the areas treated for 24-48 hours after treatment.
Afterward, your skin may appear pink to red and swelling may occur over the next two days. Results often begin to appear within days and continue to improve over several weeks as the treated vessels naturally fade.
